This book was published on the occasion of John Murphy’s exhibition "Of Voyages, Of Other Places" at Trondheim Kunstmuseum (Norway), Nov. 2013 - Jan. 2014

«The Joseph Conrad Series » consiste en une suite de 26 œuvres conçue comme une édition. Chaque œuvre est éditée en deux exemplaires, toutes représentent la même image du Joseph Conrad, l’un des plus petits trois-mâts à coque d’acier construit au 19e siècle, baptisé Joseph Conrad en référence au marin et écrivain, l’un des maîtres du roman d’aventure. Toutes ont été imprimées manuellement en deux techniques, l'offset pour l’image, la sérigraphie pour le texte. Car chacune de ces identiques images est sous-titrée, d’une phrase, d’une citation, différente pour chaque œuvre. On reconnaît là tout l’intérêt que John Murphy porte à la reproduction et à l’image trouvée, à la répétition, la similitude et la différence,  à l’espace qui existe entre le mot, l’image et l’objet, espace que l’artiste laisse le regardeur nourrir de sens et d'imaginaire.
