C’est un des « Parallel Event » à Manifesta 09 :  le B32, une initiative d’artistes de Maastricht  organise des transport en taxi entre Maastricht et le charbonnage André Dumont à Genk où s’ouvre officiellement demain la neuvième édition de la biennale Manifesta, « The Deep of the modern ». C’est l’occasion de prendre un « Taxi détour » sous forme de performance, une série d’artistes et d’acteurs culturels ayant été invités à « customiser leur véhicule ».

Taxi Détour is an exceptional transportation service, providing a memorable travel between Maastricht (Central Station) and Genk (Waterschei) during the opening weeks of Manifesta 9. For its car park, art initiative B32 invited artists and cultural actors to construct their own vehicles.

Taxi Détour redefines the act of traveling between the two locations. Acting as a time capsule, in Taxi Détour motion in space becomes motion in time as well. During the travel relation between past and present becomes activated: stories, myths and anecdotes are told in a ready-made performance.
Sometimes truth – sometimes not, these stories heard in Taxi Détour are capturing the possible fallacy of memory, subjectivity of experience, history and its interpretations.
